Oorlich Designs is a proud Scottish brand founded on a passion for craftsmanship, authenticity and timeless design. Our name is derived from the Scots word oorlich—a familiar expression for the damp, dreich weather that has shaped Scotland’s landscape, culture and character for generations.
Inspired by this heritage, we create distinctive Highland wear and accessories that celebrate Scotland’s rich traditions while embracing enduring quality and thoughtful design. Every Oorlich Designs piece is created with the intention of becoming something to own, wear and appreciate for many years to come.
Our signature Tachum Wax Jacket reflects this philosophy perfectly. Crafted using premium waxed cotton manufactured by Halley Stevensons of Dundee—specialists in waxed fabrics since 1864—and tailored by one of Scotland’s most respected Highland wear manufacturers, every Tachum jacket is proudly 100% made in Scotland. The result is a garment that combines traditional Highland styling with exceptional comfort, durability and practicality for Scotland’s ever-changing climate.

American Independence 250th Anniversary Sporran
1776-2026
Created to commemorate the 250th Anniversary of American Independence, this exceptional limited edition celebrates the enduring friendship between Scotland and the United States, while honouring the thirteen original colonies that laid the foundations of a new nation in 1776.
Strictly limited to just thirteen individually numbered sporrans worldwide, each piece is permanently dedicated to one of the original colonies, ensuring that no two owners share the same historical identity.
Every American Independence 250th Anniversary Sporran is handcrafted in Perth, Scotland, by the renowned artisans at Margaret Morrison Ltd using traditional methods and the finest materials. Each example combines Scottish craftsmanship with carefully considered design details inspired by the history it represents.
The front features a beautifully dressed raccoon mask, selected in tribute to one of North America’s most recognisable native animals, while the reverse proudly displays the historic Betsy Ross flag together with the name of its dedicated colony. Inside, a luxurious red suede lining is complemented by a blue card pocket adorned with thirteen white stars and a matching key fob, reflecting the colours of the American flag.
Each sporran is accompanied by an individually researched historical account of its colony, prepared by retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Richard C. Mathieson, giving every owner a unique connection to the history behind their numbered piece.
Presented in an exclusive Oorlich Designs presentation box, every sporran is supplied with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity, a premium leather belt, and a protective storage bag, creating a complete collector’s presentation worthy of its limited status.
